            St. Joseph’s Altar

Come to the feast of plenty!

Come to the feast of heaven and earth!

Come to the table of plenty! God will provide for all that we need,

here at the table of plenty. Your fields will flower in fullness; your

homes will flourish in peace. For I, the giver of home and harvest,

will send my rain on your soil. (words from Table of Plenty)

If you have never attended a St. Joseph’s Altar, you are missing one

of the oldest and most elaborate and symbolic feast days celebrated in

our Church. In addition to the ornate and beautiful statues, paintings

and other religious articles being placed on the table in thanksgiving,

you will see foods symbolic to the life of St. Joseph such as breads

shaped like carpentry tools and breadcrumbs symbolizing sawdust.

You will also see many symbolic items relating to the life of Jesus.

We invite you to join us in placing your petitions and prayers of

thanksgiving at our St. Joseph’s Altar.

          Join the shepherd on his

          journey in search

          of the Holy Family.

When the angels went away from them to heaven, the shepherds

said to one another, “Let us go, then, to Bethlehem to see this thing

that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us”. So

they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant

          lying in the manger.

        Luke 2:15-16

We know that as adults, we are charged with the responsibility of

teaching our children about God and our faith. At Cypress Springs

Mercedarian Prayer Center we introduce programs such as LaPosada

to help you with this responsibility.

The shepherd will share his plight with the children and ask

for their help in finding this Child, Jesus. Upon finding the Holy

Family, the children will also be taught about the shepherd’s role and

responsibility in tending his flock of sheep. The shepherd will further

explain how his role mirrors that of Our Father, with each of us as

        His sheep.

Children are asked to bring a gift which they will present to the

Holy Family (these gifts are then taken to charitable organization for

        homeless children).

            Passionate Walk with Christ

Listen as you join in a personal

          walk to Calvary

After withdrawing about a stone’s throw

from them and kneeling, he prayed, saying,

          “

Father, if you are willing, take this cup away

from me; still, not my will but yours be done.” And to strengthen him

an angel from heaven appeared to Him. He was in such agony and he

prayed so fervently that His sweat became like drops of blood falling on

          the ground.

Have you ever stopped to reflect on your journey of life and how

it relates to the Stations of the Cross? Have you ever felt abandoned

as Jesus did before Pilate? Have you ever stopped to help someone

in need as Simon of Cyrene helped Jesus carry His cross? Have you

ever been knocked down with the thought of not being able to get

up? Have you ever asked, Why me, Lord? Why me? Join us Friday,

March 2 as these comparative testimonies are shared by individuals

who have reflected on their life crosses and no longer ask “Why Me”?

Instead, they say “Why not me”.

This emotional, yet spirit-filled evening will have you giving

thanks to God for your faith journey as you begin to realize how you,

too, have made this walk to Calvary.
